Amazon Web Services For Managers
He often asks me for Amazon Web Services records and PAN at C level for directors and managers. They are not looking for the nuances of programming with the Elastic Compute Cloud API, they are only interested in an overview of how the “cloud” works.
When explaining to Amazon Web Services executives for the first time (or anyone else for that matter), it is best to talk about concepts rather than specific words. I have also noticed that it is useful to try to make the discussion concrete and familiar. Using terms like “flexible IP” gives an empirical look, but by describing it as a publicly available IP address, people can better understand the concepts before using AWS terminology for things.
At a very high level, you can think of EC2 as a global computing environment. Within EC2, there are geographical regions that can be considered as data centers. The following data centers have groups of computers called AWS access zones:
Virtual machines
In the accessibility area, we can create virtual machines from Amazon Machine Images, predefined or customized by AMI. AMI can be thought of as a snapshot of the device that you can upload and run inside the cloud in the reach area. Every time you use AMI and start it, it is called an example of AMI. You can use AMI and start it several times, each time creating a new instance.
Examples are virtual machines in action, and I really think they are virtual devices. If precautions are not taken, these virtual machines can disappear and cause great panic. That’s why you don’t really want to think of something as strong and persistent as an example. It is only a unit of computing resources.
Virtual hard drive
You can use many different AWS blog services to help keep your data intact, even if your copy dies, but one of the most popular is the Flexible Block Store, or EBS. Think of EBS as a hard drive. You can create an EBS from 1 GB to 1 TB and “install” it on any instance of the virtual machine. So if you have a case where your site is running and you want to make sure that the database is still missing, even if a copy is missing, you can use an EBS hard drive. In AWS slang, I created an EBS volume and installed it in an instance.
Other virtual storage
There are other services that you can use to maintain your virtual database other than EBS. For example, Simple DB or SDB is a very reasonable option and is preferred in some situations. However, SDB is a specialized service for the distribution of basic data, while EBS is a generalized storage solution. There is also a Relational Database Service, or RDS, that provides stable database services that bypass SDB. The choice of service often depends on the needs of the solution.
Default backup
If we want to protect the data that is now within our EBS, we don’t have a problem yet, because hard drives can also fail. We would like to back up this command to a more stable storage location so that you can use the simple storage solution or S3 in a nutshell. You can think of the S3 as a backup that is easily accessible on tape. Each of these indications is called a container in the S3 world. As this is a good stable storage system, you will need to back up EBS volume (s) S3 periodically. If you customize your example, you will also need to save a new S3 image. This way, if an instance or your carefully adjusted EBS volume crashes for any reason, you can very quickly extract it from your S3 backup and start over.
Strict security
If we did not have good security to ensure that our solution was broken, it would not matter. For security purposes, two terms are used in AWS. The first is a set of switches that give you and your developers access to your system. These are the public / private key pairs and digital certificates required to securely log in to the instance. The second, called the security group, can be considered a firewall configuration. You create a security group that describes how external entities, such as web browsers, remote desktops, file transfer protocols, e-mail, etc., define whether or not you can access your instance.
Virtual router
In order to introduce our site to the public, we will need a permanent public IP address that we can assign to our colleagues. For this purpose, we use Flexi IP or EIP. It is “flexible” because, although it is a static public IP address on the Internet, it can be assigned to any of our existing instances of AWS.
