Measure the width

To measure the width of windows, you first need to measure the jambs on all sides of the window. These are vertical boards that slide the outer frame of the window. Next, measure the middle of the jambs to the top. You should take at least three width measurements to get an accurate measurement. In case of unusually tall or short windows, you may need to take more than one measurement. When taking these measurements, you should take them to within 1/8 inch.

Once you’ve measured the width of your windows, you can go on to measure the height. It’s a simple process. You’ll need to measure the window’s outer edge to the other. You can do this from the outside or the inside. Be sure to take two measurements at each end.
