Guide on 309H SS Rod
Austenitic stainless steel Grade 309H, often known as 309H stainless steel bars, contains 12% to 15% nickel and 22% to 24% chromium. Iron makes up the remaining 98% of the composition, with 2% carbon, 2% maximum manganese, and traces of phosphorus, silicon, and sulphur. Type 304 and Grade 309H SS Rod both mill similarly, however, Grade 309H is stronger and more corrosion resistant.
It is well known that SS 309H Seamless Bars have good strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures as high as 2000° F during continuous use. This SS 309H Rod’s hardness and strength will grow as a result of cold working; heat treatment has no effect on it. Black, brilliant, and polished finishes are all available for stainless steel 309H round bars. 309H SS rod has a melting point range of 1400 °C (2552 °F) to 1530 °C (2786 °F).
Alloy 309H can be used at temperatures up to 1832°F (1000°C) in sulfur-containing atmospheres because of its high chromium and low nickel content. Due to its modest resistance to carbon absorption, the alloy is not advised for usage in severely carburizing environments. Alloy 309H can be used in applications that involve mild oxidation, nitriding, cementing, and thermal cycling, however, the maximum service temperature must be lowered.
