Reasons Why Your Toilet Tank is Leaking
The toilet is the main throne at home, whether we like it or not. This chair is used every day and will get wear from time to time, which can turn into a leak. Tank and bowl connections

- Turn off the water to the toilet by turning the valve in the main water supply channel.
- Drain the remaining water in the toilet by continuing to water and lift the flapper in the tank.
- By using a screwdriver, tighten the bolt at the bottom of the tank. If you need help to keep the nut from spinning, use a fitting key that can be adjusted to stabilize it.
- After tightening the bolt, turn on the water and refill the toilet. Try flushing several times to see if the leak continues. If the leak continues, pass these steps for the second time to be completely ensuring that the bolt is quite tight.
Toilet filling valve
Another bolt that can loosen over time is the toilet filling valve. This valve controls the fresh water that enters the tank. If this valve becomes loose then that can leak water to the floor and disrupt the amount of water entering the tank.
- To tighten this bolt, you must empty water in the tank.
- Hold stable filler valve pipes and tighten the plastic bolts connected to the water supply channel. Don’t tighten this bolt too much because of plastic and can be cracked.
- Turn back the water again and fill the toilet. Flush several times to check leaks. If you still leak from that area, you might need to call experts to fix that section.
Condensation
Another problem that might look like a leak is the condensation in the toilet tank. This problem is an easy improvement. Condensation usually occurs when cold water makes the outside of the tank cold and react with warm and humid air. This is common during warm days. Here are some tricks on how to deal with this problem or fix it.
- Place the tray on the bottom of the base to catch water.
- Take a less hot shower and leave the bathroom fan to suck moisture.
- Close the bathroom window on hot damp days. Try to turn on the AC if the condensation becomes very bad.
