Established on December 12, 2001, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is located in the territory of two districts of Bo Trach and Minh Hoa, Quang Binh Province. Situated in a limestone area of about 200,000 hectares, this is one of the largest national parks in Vietnam. It has a core area of 85,754ha and a buffer zone of 195,400ha.
The climate in Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park is characterized by the hot and humid tropical monsoon climate of the North Central region in general, and Quang Binh province in particular. But most especially, it is impossible not to mention Son Doong cave – the largest cave in the world discovered in April 2009 by an expedition of the Royal British Cave Association.
