Using Tea Tree Oil for Acne
Hey Everybody,
I am a huge proponent of using organic techniques to combat acne instead of only relying on prescription medications. However, I understand that certain natural treatments might not be as effective as prescription medications in dealing with some of the more severe cases of acne.
However, if the acne you are experiencing is light or moderate, then you may want to explore alternatives that are natural rather than seeking out treatment options from your physician. Naturally, I’m not a medical professional, so should you seek a doctor if your acne is hindering your daily life, then it is best to have your skin examined by a specialist.
You may have already heard that tea tree oil for acne is derived directly from leaves Melaleuca alternifolia which is a species indigenous in Australia as well as utilized for many thousands of years to treat for various ailments by the early people of Australia and the aboriginals.
Essential tea tree oil that can be extracted by removing the leaf of the tree by steam distillation. This produces a pale yellow oil that has a strong but pleasant smell. The oil is a source of terpenoids that have been proven to possess antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Although the oil is applied to the skin (I would not suggest applying 100% tea tree oil however, I’ll come back to it) However, it could be extremely harmful in the event of swallowing.
You might be thinking “why is tea tree oil used in toothpaste and mouthwashes if it is toxic?” Simply put, we’re not required to swallow mouthwash or toothpaste However, if we do, it’s rarely enough to cause any harm.
I would definitely suggest keeping the oil from tea trees in your medicine cabinet since, in addition to the benefits of using tea tree oil for acne, I’ve discovered it has many other fantastic and beneficial properties. I apply it to cuts and stings, grazes, boils, and every other bump or lump that shows up in my body!
Tea tree oil for acne has terpinen-4ol that can be believed to be the reason for its antibacterial, anti-fungal as well as antiviral qualities. These properties be the reason that Melaleuca oil extremely efficient in treating acne, as it’s believed to kill acne-causing bacteria Propionibacterium acneswhich occurs on the skin’s surface.
I’ve already mentioned that I wouldn’t suggest using natural tea tree oils on your body, but especially for those with sensitive skin, like mine. which is exactly what I did after applying a concentrated tea tree oil before going to bed and then waking up looking like I’d been asleep in the sun. ….not the most beautiful of looks, as you could imagine!
Tea tree oil undiluted may cause dryness, redness and irritation. I would recommend beginning with 5 percent concentration. This amount will be more gentle on your skin. studies have shown it to be the same as other commercial acne treatments, but with fewer adverse negative effects.
Personally, I would recommend applying the tea tree oil gel form because it’s much simpler to use than applying the oil and it’s a lot less messy, too. One of the top and most well-known tea tree oil-based gels that are available can be found in Kiss My Face – Tea Tree Gel, which does not only contain tea tree oil but also aloe vera, witch hazel peppermint oil and a host of other completely natural ingredients that can be beneficial to acne-prone skin
Like any other acne treatment that is applied topically I would suggest testing a patch on a small area. tea tree oil is an entirely natural treatment, but because different skin types react in different ways , it’s safer to be cautious than regretting. Here is a brief tutorial on the most effective method use the tea tree oil (assuming you’ve completed the patches test prior to applying it! )
Step 1.Gently wash your face using a high-quality cleanser (preferably a non-soap , non-foaming cleanser). The advantages of using a non-soap cleanser is you are less likely to dry your skin, even if you suffer from dry, desert skin as I do. Also, remember to avoid washing your face more than two times per day..unfortunately it’s impossible to get rid of acne! After cleansing, gently smooth your face with using a soft towel.
Step 2. Give yourself a few moments until your skin is completely dry. Using soft circular movements, gently apply tiny amounts of Tea Tree Oil gel on the areas that are prone to acne on your face. As an example, you can apply the size of a pea onto one cheek. and then another cheek, then on your chin and so on.. This will make certain that every area of your face is adequately coated, which will make the gel last that little bit longer (important for those in a tight budget).
