A Step-by-Step Guide: How To Change A Lamy Fountain Pen Nib
It might seem difficult to change the nib of a Lamy Fountain Pen but it is actually incredibly easy. Once learned, you will be able to try out a number of sizes of nibs that Lamy offers. There is a very defined way of doing it and these foolproof methods are going to be your companions whenever you’d like to switch the nib of your Lamy Fountain Pen. These methods will work with Lamy Safari, Al star, Vista, and Joy.
Going forward we will be talking about the two best methods of changing the Lamy Nib, one with tape and the other with a rubber liner.
- HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LAMY NIB WITH TAPE
- Clean the ink spots from the pen first
- Once the ink is dry, place a tape around the nib. Just a little piece will be enough, you don’t need a lot of tapes.
- Remove the nib of the pen very softly by pulling the tape downwards.
- Clean the nib you removed with a very soft cloth. It is recommended to not use soap water as that might spoil the nib. It is good to use a wet wipe instead.
- Take the nib you wish to insert and put it in the pen. Keep in mind that the side with lettering should be facing you and should be secured above the flat side of the feed.
- HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LAMY NIB WITH A RUBBER GRIP LINER
You may want to change your Lamy nib with a Rubber Grip Liner when your nib is wet and it is not easy to stick tape on it. This process is also very simple and easy.
- Cut out a piece of Rubber Grip Liner from the sheet.
- Fold the grip into half and put it over the nib.
- Use your thumb and index finger and remove the nib gently by pulling it.
- Take the nib you wish to insert and put it in the pen. Keep in mind that the side with lettering should be facing you and should be secured above the flat side of the feed.
