What is Facebook Pay?
Facebook Pay gives people a way to securely and seamlessly send and receive money. Facebook users can link their debit cards (and soon, bank accounts) right from their Payments Settings, providing an even simpler way to transact with the over 800 million people who use Facebook. You can now pay or be paid by friends in any country where payments are supported!
How does Facebook Pay work?
When you send or receive money using Facebook Pay, your financial information is protected with multiple layers of security, including VeriSign SSL encryption. We don’t share the details of what happens in your payments transactions. All financial information is encrypted and processed by our secure third-party payment processor. You can find out more about how we keep your data secure in our Data Security section.
When you send or receive money, the other person doesn’t need to have a Facebook account. And, if someone without a Facebook account sends you money, you won’t see it in your Facebook Pay balance — it’ll arrive as an email and they’ll get a notification.
If you don’t have a debit card or bank account, you can still use Facebook Pay with your credit card from over 25 countries and regions. We’ll send you an email when someone sends you money using this method so that you know to check your email inbox.
What is Facebook’s refund policy on Transactions?
When you initiate a transaction, we apply your payment method immediately and send the other person an email letting them know that money is on its way. If something goes wrong and they don’t get their money or need to reverse a transaction, we can help them cancel the transaction through our Resolution Center. If you return the item in question, we can reverse the transaction with your financial institution within 24 hours.
You can also initiate transactions to people who do not have Facebook accounts simply by entering their email address. If you enter an invalid email address, we will let you know that it is invalid and ask for another one. If you entered the wrong amount, cancel the request before it’s sent.
Can I send money to someone in a different country?
You can use Facebook Pay with the payment methods available in your country, and we support people without Facebook accounts in 25 countries and regions around the world. We don’t currently support sending money to people who live in unsupported countries, but we hope to add this feature soon.
