A plantar wart is a common skin viral infection caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They grow on the sole or the surface because they choose areas of pressure.   • Remove loose tissue with a washcloth, brush, or emery board and thoroughly dry the feet. Filing away the overlying callus tissue allows the medication to penetrate the wart properly.
  • In at least two weeks improvements can be seen but if none are seen, see a podiatrist. Salicylic acid should not be used on other skin conditions or lesions.
  • A commercial solution of 17 percent lactic acid and 17 percent salicylic acid is fast drying. It is applied daily after showering and covered withwaterproof tape to be removed on the next shower. The application of duct tape is a safe and effective approach to treatment and should be done six out of seven days a week.

If plantar warts do not change the doctor might choose to use different techniques of Houston plantar wart removal. An acid can be used to burn warts off. New technology using laser treatment has enabled podiatrists to destroy the wart. Cryotherapy is another treatment method where the podiatrist uses liquid nitrogen to freeze warts and they turn black in a few days and fall off.
