Eyeliner For Hooded Eyes – Get That Intense Eye Look
Having extra skin always getting in the way of your mascara application can cause frustration when trying to get your eyelashes to look longer and thicker; especially when using the best types of eyeliners for hooded eyes. This doesn’t mean that you are not trying, or that your eyes aren’t improving at night. You just need a little extra help.
Effects of eyeliner on Hooded eyes
First, the best kind of eyeliner for hooded eyes are those that have a small tip. This prevents the brush from smudging on the waterline. Also, it makes applying the product to your eyes look much easier. However, this is only really important if you only have small eyes. If your eyes are large, you probably won’t be putting that much thought into your decision to use eyeliner for your hoody-eyed beauties.
There are two main types of eyeliner that work great for those with both round eyes and long ones. It is called a shaded liner, which creates an illusion of width by blocking out most of the light. If you don’t like the look of shaded liner, try applying with a slightly darker shade as a replacement. If you are after the appearance of a smoky eye, opt for black.
The second kind of eyeliner for hooded eyes that comes in very popular formulas is called an eye liner that comes in true colour. Some are opaque, others come in semi-opaque shades. Either way, they are a great way to outline the shape of your eyes and give them that healthy look without having to wear thick mascara. Try the formula with the Shiner Brush Eyeshadow Duo for a smooth look.
When applying shadow, it’s important to first prime the area before starting. Use a thin eyeliner brush to apply a primer that is at least a shade lighter than the colour you are using to create the shadow. This will help the colour to stick to your eyelid better and give the effect of a natural eyeliner. If you have sensitive skin, it’s best to use a primer with an oil base.
Once you’ve primed your eyelids, apply eyeliner from the inner corner to the outer edge of each eye. Begin with just a few strokes to get a perfect look. For best results try doing an up and down motion. For the best effect, make sure you apply eyeliner that is waterproof. Not only does this mean that it stays put through the night but it also means that your special wing design will last throughout your daytime makeup application as well.
Next, it’s time to play up the eye shape. To apply eyeliner for hooded eyes, bring your lower eyelashes out towards your face and sweep them upwards toward your outer corner. Align them with your natural eye shape, then add in more mascara to define your upper lashes. Finish off by curling your lashes upward toward your eyebrow.
Benefit of Dark shade Eyeliner
Finally, use a darker shade of eyeliner on your lower lashes to bring out the outer corner of your eyes and define your eye shape. If you’re going for a smoky look then use brown or black, preferably black. To bring out the dark color even further, use black waterline pencil along the waterline of your eyes. Finish your look off with black eyeliner that extends from your outer corner of the eye down to the bottom lashes. You can curl your lashes again with black mascara at the outer corner of your eye.
If you have downturned eyes, this look calls for a slightly different approach. Rather than drawing the eye line downward to define the shape of your eye, draw the eye look straight on top of the natural eye line. Use a light colored pencil as you would for eyeliner for eyebrows.
To create the illusion of width, draw an arc that extends from the center of the eye all the way to the bottom lash line. Curve your upper and lower lashes out and blend the lines to soften the angle. This is not a replacement for liner eyeliner; use a pencil to create the same look. Then use a darker liner eyeliner for the outer edge of the arc. Finish this look off with a bit of smoky eye mascara.
For hooded eyes, simply bring the brush all the way down to the lash line and start drawing outward. Make a U shape with the brush and hold it at the base of your brow. Instead of curling the lashes, let them fall freely and define your eyelid by applying mascara to the inside corner of each eye. Apply the mascara with a wet sponge and allow it to dry before applying any eye makeup.
