The history of packaging

For the transport of the clay pots, they were protected from transport damage using straw or reeds. The clay pots were followed by the first wooden barrels, and in the Middle Ages, the first glass and paper packaging were added. Nowadays, more and more plastic packaging is used, although this trend is declining, and plastic is being dispensed with more and more.
Types of packaging
The packaging regulations distinguish the types of packaging according to sales, outer, and transport packaging.
Sales packaging primary packaging encloses the goods open or closed. The end user uses them to transport and use the goods. They are also ideal for advertising purposes using labels.
Outer packaging secondary packaging also encases the sales packaging like foils or cardboard boxes. They protect against theft and, like sales packaging, are used for advertising purposes.
Transport packaging tertiary packaging protects the packaged goods from damage during transport from the sender to the recipient or serves to ensure the vehicle’s safety. Containers, lattice boxes, and pallets that may be foil wrapped are the most common transport packaging.
