Moraine Lake Shuttle – The Easiest Way to See the Spectacular Lake
You’ve seen the pictures, but now you’re ready to experience Moraine Lake for yourself. Luckily, reserving a shuttle in advance is the easiest way to visit this iconic location.
Shuttle tickets include a system-wide day pass for Roam Transit, use of the Parks Canada Lake Connector shuttle between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, and the return trip to the Park and Ride.
Hike the Rockpile Trail
The Rockpile Trail is a quick and easy hike that offers stunning views of Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks. This iconic view was featured on the back of the Canadian Twenty Dollar bill starting in 1969 and is an absolute must-see when visiting Moraine Lake.
The best time to hike the Rockpile Trail is in the morning when the sun rises over the mountains. This is also when you’ll see many photographers and tourists flocking to the site for that perfect photo opportunity.
Keep in mind that this is not a wheel chair friendly trail, however, the lakeshore trail is and is accessible to those with physical limitations. Guests with disabilities are allowed to park their cars at the Lakeshore parking lot for free and must display a valid Parks Canada vehicle permit. Please be mindful of the environment and do not leave any litter or damage the area, this is a fragile ecosystem.

The Lakeshore Trail is a great way to see more of the stunning scenery around Moraine Lake. It offers incredible views of teton peaks and the glacially-carved mountains along the shoreline of the lake.
While private cars can no longer be driven up to Moraine Lake, the Parks Canada shuttle system is still available to help visitors get there. Shuttle tickets are highly sought after, especially during the peak months of summer and fall. The easiest way to reserve your spot is to book online at least two days in advance, but ideally earlier.

Take a Canoe or Kayak Tour
Taking a canoe or kayak tour at Moraine Lake is a great way to see the glacial lake in peace and solitude, as well as enjoy an entirely new perspective on the iconic landscape. Canoes are available for rent from June to October, and it’s best to go early in the day before crowds arrive.
The lake’s azure color is due to fine particles of rock that refract light, and the surrounding mountains are craggy, dramatic, and imposing. Paddling on the lake isn’t just a way to get that perfect Instagram shot, but it’s a unique and memorable experience. Just remember that the glacial lake is frigid all year round, even in summer! Rent a Boat
A bright blue glacier-fed lake framed by soaring mountain peaks, Moraine Lake is one of the most recognizable lakes in Canada. You may even have seen it in photos or on social media. And for good reason – it’s spectacular.
Private shuttles are available to get to Moraine Lake for a fee. Reservations are required and often sold out, so booking ahead of time is recommended. When you book your shuttle, you’ll reserve a one-hour window and can show up at any point within that hour.
Since 2023, private vehicles have been banned from parking at Moraine Lake Road (unless you have a disability hang tag). That means that the best way to experience this iconic site is on a Parks Canada or private shuttle bus.
