League of Legends Lecture by NicoThePico
Learn how to improve your League of Legends game mechanics, micro/macro knowledge, and rank from former LCS coach NicoThePico. This course will provide a unique perspective on how to think about and approach the game.
Before the millions of players, billions in revenue, and esports tournaments with more than 100 million spectators, League of Legends was less of a video game and more of an idea. Co-founder Marc Merrill remembers that the year leading up to launch was filled with terror and wild leaps of faith.
Eventually, he and fellow Riot Games co-founder Brandon Beck slapped together a prototype that could be shown to investors in April 2009. The company was raising money fast. But the team was still months away from rolling out the first public version of what they had once called Onslaught.
The company’s small crew of playtesters and interns began playing the game constantly as they worked. One day, one of their bosses caught on. “He said we had to play it all the time,” recalled Jeff Jew, who led USC’s interactive media lab when he met Merrill and Beck.
This study aims to understand the nature of the League of Legends experience using self-reports of motivational regulation and player experience. The goal is to develop an understanding of the mechanisms behind this phenomenon, and use these insights to inform future research. To achieve this goal, we will apply a theory of discrete linear optimization systems to the League of Legends game.롤대리
