Exploring the Clothing Factory
A clothing factory is usually a huge facility designed to produce large numbers of clothing in a short period of time. In some clothing factories, a single design of clothing is produced, and all clothing produced will be arranged according to size, color, and design. In other clothing factories, multiple factories can be situated together to manufacture a wide variety of designs. This allows the company to adapt to the changing demand for clothing. Clothing is manufactured to satisfy different customer demands all year long.
The need to constantly change clothing styles has led to the evolution of clothing factories. Today, clothing is made in sweatshops where factory workers wear hard hats and rubber gloves and do not have much chance to interact with the outside world. They are exposed to very harsh conditions such as long hours of work, low pay, little or no benefits, cramped quarters, poor food and lack of any social interaction.
The Chinese authorities started a project to help Chinese workers make a living by creating clothing. In the 1950s, the communist government started the ‘harvesting and manufacturing industry of apparel and material goods for exports’ initiative. This was the beginning of China’s shift towards becoming a clothing manufacturer. Since then, apparel factories have been built in many different parts of China. Some of these clothing factories produce garments for local and international market, while others produce goods for the Asian and European markets.
The process of manufacturing garments using a xưởng quần áo consists of designing and tailoring a sample. After this design and tailoring is complete, fabric and thread are gathered from textile mills and sewing machines. Machine washable fabric pieces are pre-measured and assembled on sewing machines. After this the clothes are sewn and then shipped to the factory where they are put on display.
Some of the clothing designers set up their own clothing factory. These usually consist of designers, tailors and factory workers who work together to produce unique and fashionable clothes. Many small local factories have become small clothing designers over the years, as production costs have come down. Clothing designers can sell their products to the public via the internet.
There are also companies that import clothing manufacturers to do the work for them in their factory. An example of such company iserred to as ‘Zara’, which manufactures clothing in four factories located in Turkey. The company ships thousands of units of clothing to customers all around the world, mainly Europe, USA and Asia. Zara has a large number of employees who enjoy regular day-to-day communication with their clients and are happy to meet new customers.
