The secret to FC Seoul’s 400,000 spectators: the increase in women, children, and family soccer fans
Cumulative attendance at Seoul World Cup Stadium this year: 430,029
Professional soccer K-League 1 FC Seoul surpassed 400,000 spectators for the first time among K-League clubs since the paid attendance count was counted in 2018 in the Suwon Samsung match held on the 25th.
According to FC Seoul on the 28th, a total of 430,029 spectators attended the 19th home game held at Seoul World Cup Stadium this year. It is the first K League club to have more than 400,000 spectators visit the stadium.
The average audience was 22,633. This is the highest figure even among all Korean professional sports teams, including baseball.
Factors contributing to the increase in attendance were the influx of new female fans and the increase in family fans.
About 47.4% of all spectators this season were women. This is a 14.7% increase from 32.7% in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The proportion of child fans also increased by 2.1% from 14.1% in 2019 to 16.2%. This led to the visit of parents fans in their 30s and 40s accompanied by children. The proportion of family fans, including children and parents, recorded 49.0% of the total.
In addition, improvements in the viewing environment contributed to the increase in spectators. FC Seoul collaborated with GS Retail to introduce the pick-up service of the GS25 Our Neighborhood GS app to the stadium, shortening convenience store usage time. This method was also applied to the food truck halftime pickup service.
Popular visits also helped. Popular singer Lim Young-woong visited the Daegu FC match on April 8, and 45,007 spectators attended.
In the game against Suwon on November 25, Choi Hyun-seok, Yoshi, and Haruto of the boy group Treasure held a halftime performance.
In addition, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its founding, it released uniforms from 1995, when it was used at Dongdaemun Stadium in Seoul, to emphasize its identity as a club representing Seoul. 슬롯
