Prohibitions of Ihram During Hajj and Umrah
Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) undertook the first Umrah in Islamic history on the morning of the fourth day of Zi Qadh 7 AH, and it lasted for three days. Following their relocation to Madinah, the Sahaba began performing Umrah. Therefore, the Umrah performed in the holy month of Zi Qadh is rewarded as a major pilgrimage for the individual who performs it. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also went on Hajj once in his lifetime, and he urged all Muslims who were in a position to do so financially and physically to do so as well. Muslims, therefore, make every effort to prepare for Umrah. They learn all about Umrah packages 2024 from Leicester, the Ihram’s restrictions, how to put on an Ihram, and more.
In Islam, there is no hard and fast deadline by which believers must complete the Umrah pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia’s holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. At any time of the year, Muslims can follow detailed instructions for performing Umrah, including what to wear and what not to do in Ihram, etc. The four cornerstones of Umrah are as follows:
- Wearing the Ihram Dress
- Holy Kaaba Rites (Tawaf)
- Say’ee
- Shaving off hair
There are specific limitations on Ihram, or Prohibitions of Ihram, that must be observed in order to do Hajj or Umrah in Allah’s House, the Holy Kaaba. It is important to remember that visitors to Madinah and the Prophet’s Mosque are exempt from wearing Ihram and Talbiyah. Let’s have a look at the Ihram restrictions that are in place during Hajj and Umrah.
Prohibitions of Ihram
When visiting the House of Allah for the Umrah or Hajj, pilgrims are required to observe certain restrictions known as the Prohibitions of Ihram. Here are the restrictions of Ihram:
- Cutting your nails is forbidden during Umrah.
- Haircuts, including those of the head and body, are also included.
- Fragrances applied to the body or the Ihram garment
- It is forbidden to wear only the Ihram, without any other stitched garments.
- Sandals and flip-flops can’t have seams, period.
- During the Hajj and Umrah, it is forbidden to conceal one’s head or face.
- Animal hunting, including the execution of criminals
- Prohibitions of Ihram include engaging in sexual activity.
Therefore, I pray that you will observe the Ihram restrictions throughout the Umrah and Hajj. In order for our Umrah and Hajj to be accepted by Allah, we must strictly adhere to the Prohibitions of Ihram.
