This is the second time that Speraw has received the AVCA Men’s Division I/II National Coach of the Year award. He had previously won the award in 2006 while coaching UC Irvine. Under his guidance, the team won its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title. And achieved a school record of 21 consecutive wins.
He was the Assistant Coach for the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games before being promoted to Head Coach in 2013. After that, he went on to earn a Bronze medal in Rio. In 2018, Speraw led the U.S. Men’s National Team to their first FIVB World Championship medal in 24 years. As they defeated Serbia for the Bronze medal in Turin, Italy. In December 2021, he extended his contract to remain as the U.S. National Team coach through the Paris Olympic Games.

The Malkia Strikers, who will be captained by Mercy Moim, will participate in the Challenger Cup in Laval. And a top-two finish will secure a place in the Volleyball Nations League next year.

The South Paris Arena will host the volleyball matches, and a temporary stadium near the Eiffel Tower will host beach volleyball during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
