Road Safety for Kids
Introduction
Road safety for children is an essential and one of the very important aspects of education that parents and teachers should teach children. There should be a healthy interactive session about road safety and traffic rules at school and at home as well. Educating about road safety is important to ensure children’s safety on the road and also to help them grow as responsible citizens.
What does road safety mean?
The rules and regulations put in place to reduce the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and fatalities on the road are referred to as “road safety.” It includes all methods, laws, and tools employed to guarantee the security of motorists, passengers, and pedestrians.
Measures for road safety
Teaching young children about road safety is very important and it must be done with absolute caution so that the child does not develop fear. Therefore, it is important that we teach them in a fun and interactive way. National public School educates children at an early age about road safety measures through various activities. The aim of NPS Sarjapur is to make children responsible citizens and obey all traffic rules and follow the safety guidelines.
Rules that we can teach
We should encourage and teach them to take precautions before crossing the road to look around first to their left and right and then if the road is clear, they can cross the road.
Children should be taught about the basic safety signs along with their meanings. It is very important to make them understand the traffic rules and signals. While driving you can show the signals and explain their meaning, this practical experience will help children learn faster.
It is extremely important to make the children aware of the basic traffic rules and road safety. They can have a demonstration at school by their teachers as a fun activity where children and teachers take part and follow the traffic rules. Giving a practical example will last longer in the minds of the kids.
Teachers and parents should explain the importance of the zebra crossing and its relevance to the children and encourage them to cross the road only using the zebra crossing. Adults should follow these and encourage the kids also to follow the same for safety.
Teach the kids that they may not always be able to see an oncoming vehicle, especially If they are at a curve. In such circumstances, advise children to stop if they hear a horn, wait for sometime, look to the left and right of the road if any vehicle is approaching, and only then move across the road.
National public school is one of the best CBSE schools in Bangalore East which is known for its academic excellence and co-curricular activities as well. We at NPS Bangalore try to inculcate good habits, mannerisms and good morals and ethics into our children right from a young age to help the students apply these learnings in their lives.
Conclusion
Parents and teachers cannot always be around the children when they are playing outdoors. So, it is very important to explain to the children about the traffic rules and road safety measures from a very young age so that children get to know how to be safe on their own.
