Add New Words to Your Vocabulary with Learn Sanskrit | HUA
This is the second course in the Learn Sanskrit Proficiency Certificate Program, designed to help you improve your understanding of the language. You will learn how to write in Devanagari script, and also refine your Sanskrit pronunciation.
The course content is structured to help you build a solid foundation in the language. You’ll learn about domain-specific words, genders, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, numbers, subhashitams (wise sayings), stories, and rhymes beginning with the alphabets. Additionally, you’ll learn how to construct basic sentences in Sanskrit.
The course covers a variety of topics, including simple greetings and introductions, pronouns, persons, numbers, gender, indeclinables, simple conversations, Sanskrit numerals from 1 to 100, frequently used verbs, interrogative words, and an introduction to the simple present and past tenses. You’ll also learn about Sambodhanam, or direct address.
Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to add new nouns, pronouns, and verbs to your vocabulary. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to describe the basic sounds that make up Sanskrit pronunciation, recognize frequently used Sanskrit expressions, and communicate naturally through basic conversation. You’ll also be able to employ fundamental building blocks such as numbers, tenses, simple verbs, and other speech acts effectively in your speech and writing.
