Vedas (Yajus-Sama) Course content:
The course provides an overview of the features and content of the Yajurveda and Samaveda, as well as illustrations from parts of the Samhita, Brahmana, Araṇyaka and Upaniṣads to show how they differ from each other. Various musical svaras (intonations) of Samaveda are also given in this course.
In this course students will be able to:
To understand the arrangement of mantras in the Yajur and Sama Vedas as well as an overview of their contents
Understand the Vedic worldview through its philosophy of life
Recognize the variations and differences between Vedic and Classical Sanskrit
Distinguish convergence and divergence in nature, features, form, content, structure and utility of the four Vedas with respect to Vedic practices.
