USA - January 2023 – Over recent years, we saw a boom in roller skating. Nowadays, people, kids as well as adults, are indulging in this activity. Whether you roller skate for fitness or recreational purposes, it is a fun thing to do. But for the absolute beginner, the reality of attaching wheels to your adult feet frequently comes as an unpleasant shock. You\'ll quickly realize how simple it is to trip over if you don\'t grasp the basics correctly from the beginning. While you can get your hands on high-quality and affordable FR skate, Razors skate, and more at Roller Skate USA, there are a few other things to know. Follow these tips to overcome your fear and master skills to roller skate smoothly.
Put on your skates tightly
When putting on their skates, most people lift up the skate tongue, grab the laces, and pull. However, that is not the correct technique. Here\'s what you should be doing instead:
- Pull the skate tongue of the skate and place it into the outer side of your boot\'s ankle cuff before putting it on.
- Holding your laces firmly with both hands, pick the lowest cross closest to your toes.
- Next, advance to the following lace cross and pull. Keep moving on to the next step, and so forth, feeling your skate getting tighter around your entire foot.
- Then tighten the top knot of the laces.
The only way to steer your skates with deliberate movements is if they are tightly fastened to your feet.
Learn to fall intentionally
For new, inexperienced roller skaters, the dread of falling is the most significant cause of physical tension and can freeze us in our tracks with fear. Practice purposefully falling onto your knee and wrist pads while standing on the grass to help you get over this fear.
Learn the ready position while standing
The Ready position is a critical next step as you learn to rollerskate because it allows you to feel safe on skates. Adopt this position to get ready for every motion and recover from setbacks.
The ideal spot to practice the Ready position is standing still on the mat or grass before replicating it on the skating ground. Position your feet parallelly and roughly a hand\'s width apart. Next, you want to sense your weight on the balls of both feet. Begin by focusing on your toes while slowly bending your knees. Continue doing that until your knee pads conceal your toes.
Ready position while rolling
You can build reliable stability that will lower anxiety by mastering the Ready position while rolling. Always add a rolling motion to your initial skating steps. Once you\'re in a comfortable place with the momentum you\'ve just built, you can slowly let your speed develop.
Maintain a slow speed
Maintaining low speeds will help novice quad skaters overcome their fear. Although it may seem evident, most skaters don\'t know the mechanisms that cause acceleration while skating, making it very difficult to control speed. On skates, you can create propulsion by lightly "V"-shaping your skates, putting your toes fractionally out and your heels in to form a "slice of pizza" shape.
The ideal V-shape should resemble a typical pizza slice. However, most novices overdo this and either open their toes too widely or produce acceleration that feels too quick and uncontrollable.
