5 quick steps to phone recharge
Recharging your prepaid phone connection is now as simple as getting instant coffee or checking your emails. We list the steps involved.
The virtual payments universe in India has undergone a sea change in recent years. Gone are the days when you would think several times before making an online payment, or buying clothes or shoes off an e-commerce site. Today, there is a multitude of e-payment providers offering different payment options that are quick, easy to use and fully secure as well.
Virtual payments are the best bet when you must pay your bills or finish mobile recharge or DTH recharge. It takes a good mobile wallet, UPI app or just your debit/credit card to pay bills, transfer money, shop, and even book tickets and hotel stays. The best part is, there is no transaction fee charged on transactions made using the mobile wallets.
Here’s how you can recharge your phone using the service provider’s website or mobile wallet in just 5 steps:
- When asked a choice between ‘Prepaid’ and ‘Postpaid’, choose ‘Prepaid’.
- Enter these details: Mobile number, Operator (i.e. the name of the provider’s company), Circle (i.e. the city of your residence) and Amount.
- You may be asked if you wish to do the mobile recharge using smaller amounts of money. You may choose this option, or proceed with your previously entered amount.
- Once you hit submit, the recharge amount is debited from your bank account or mobile wallet. You may even choose debit/credit card, net banking or UPI app to pay.
- Check if the mobile recharge has been processed, and continue using the connection as you always do till the next recharge.
Get the mobile wallet you need
- Go to Google Play Store (for Android users) or Apple Store (for iPhone users) and look for the mobile wallet you wish to use.
- Install the wallet on your phone.
- Set it up as directed in just a few steps. If it is an open wallet, it will link directly with your bank account. If it is semi-open, then it will link with your debit/credit card and ask for a certain amount of money to be loaded on it. If it is a closed wallet, then you must load money in it to transact.
- To use the wallet, open it by clicking its icon on your phone screen. Then enter your PIN (added during setup), choose the type of transaction and make the payment.
- Start using the wallet to do mobile recharge, pay bills, pay cab fare, pay for fuel at the petrol pump, pay for in-store purchases, transfer money to your contacts, shop online, etc.
You need not transact in cash or use other modes of payment if you have a mobile wallet. Just tap on your smartphone or tab and complete the transaction. This means you can even leave your actual wallet at home when you are out of doors!
